I thought I'd get the ball rolling on ideas for the Step It Up promo video. So here are some somewhat random thoughts:
- plume from oilsands (I have aerial still and shots from a canoe on the Athabasca that I took)
- wind turbine (I have a photo of my partner Paulina with a wind turbine behind her; the way I took the shot, it appears that she is holding the turbine in her hand, which would go well with a phrase like, "Imagine the solution to global climate pollution is in the palm of your hand"...which leads well into the green finger thing...)
- green fingers
- "Learn how Alberta's political leaders want to tackle climate change and add your voice to the chorus calling for serious action" or something like that (I think we should soon develop a 'tag line' for promoting the event)
- clips of Stelmach's abject failure to reduce emissions
- use the term "absolute" ("We absolutely need to reduce our absolute emissions. The time for low-intensity effort has long passed")
- 80% by 2050 - theme throughout (greyed out in background, but visible throughout much of the video?)
- what else are we calling for?
- what do we want people to do at the event? - green fingers, sign petitions, pose for group photo
- what's the slogan for our group photo?

Hey Greg,
I like these random thoughts. I also think we should include a couple images of Alberta's postcard peaks and glaciers - I know that would hit home for me. The irony of our province is really interesting...we have such striking natural beauty and much of our wealth comes from putting it at risk. I'm going to think about some copy this weekend!
